Capacity Isn’t Flashy
But it does allow nonprofits to turn vision into impact. Capacity means people, time, resources, and funding, and it is the foundation every organization needs to carry its mission forward.
The Radical Capacity Alliance is a new model offering steady, long-term support that is collaborative, relational, and financially sustainable. Donor funds offset the cost of essential development and fundraising services, so small nonprofits can access what they need. Consultants and collaborators bring their expertise, creativity, and care as valued members of the alliance, and are compensated for their contributions.
This model builds more than capacity for individual organizations. It builds shared strength across the sector, replacing short-term fixes with lasting systems of support that nonprofits can truly rely on. This is how we move from isolated efforts to a sector-wide shift that uplifts everyone doing the work. A rising tide raises all ships or boats.
What We’re Building
The sum is greater than its parts
Radical Capacity Alliance is a supportive hub for under-resourced nonprofits and the constellation of consultants who work alongside them.
We provide steady, embedded development care so organizations can break cycles, build capacity, and grow with integrity. At the same time, we welcome collaborators to share their knowledge, test new ideas, and be compensated for their contributions.
Through donor-offset contributions, shared infrastructure, and long-term planning, the alliance strengthens nonprofit capacity and shifts support systems from what is to what could be.
Our Approach
Commons Membership
RCA is a membership model rooted in shared resources. Small nonprofits contribute 2% of their annual budget, donor funds offset the gap, and as a result we all receive the support needed to reach sustainability. Alliance members receive a full year of steady fundraising and development support, along with workshops and retreats that build strategy and strengthen connection. Collaborators and support partners are invited into work that values their expertise and creates space for long-term impact.
The work is carried forward by RCA’s core staff, alongside a network of collaborators and community partners who bring their knowledge and care. The commons is also a space for experimentation and peer-to-peer learning, where organizations and collaborators try new approaches together and share what they discover.
What emerges is a new way of sustaining nonprofits: a shared system of resources that strengthens each mission while transforming the sector as a whole.
Why We Exist
Nonprofits are carrying too much
Fast-moving grants. Short-term consulting. Endless reporting. High staff turnover. Burnout.
Small organizations care for our communities in ways that matter every day, often with just enough money to keep going but not enough support to make the work sustainable.
So we asked: What if support for nonprofits was reimagined from the ground up?
Radical Capacity Alliance has been shaped alongside nonprofits through relationships, research, and practice to chart a new way to sustain the work. RCA exists to support the fundraising and development efforts of their alliance members. Members contribute 2% of their annual budgets, partially offset by donor support, and in return receive a full year of dedicated fundraising and development assistance. All membership contributions are reinvested into the alliance to enhance services and expand access for other nonprofits.
